A return of Juan Pablo Montoya to F1?

Juan Pablo Montoya admits to rejecting a number of offers that would allow him to return to Formula 1. He currently drives in the Nascar series in the United States and claims he is not interested in reliving the thrill of an F1 Grand Prix.

« They always want to bring me back, but I have rejected their offers. When they say they want my phone number to talk to me, I always say that if it’s to propose a return to Formula 1, there’s no point because I’m not interested, » Montoya told the EFE news agency.

« I am very happy in Nascar. My family and I are happy in the United States and, to be honest, a return to F1 hasn’t even crossed my mind. »

« Even if Ferrari or McLaren haven’t called me, I don’t wish to go back, » added the Colombian, who left Formula 1 in the middle of the 2006 season.

The 33-year-old driver had limited success in the United States after finishing in 25th position this year in the Sprint Cup series.

Montoya is convinced that success will come: « The real experts are those who say very good things about what I do. »

« I know it’s a complicated sport for the fans, but I’m sure that when I start winning races, those who criticize me now for leaving Formula 1 will follow NASCAR. »
