Bruno Senna believes he did everything in his power to honor the commitment made with Honda Racing, who evaluated him during the Barcelona tests at the beginning of the week. These tests were the first of their kind for the Brazilian, who discovered at the same time the sensations of driving a Formula 1 car.
He was on track Monday and Wednesday to possibly secure a spot as a race driver alongside Jenson Button next season.
Senna completed 107 laps on the single day of Wednesday, posting the ninth fastest time of the day, just three-tenths off Button. The GP2 driver admitted to being satisfied with his work: « The last time I drove a race car was two months ago for the last GP2 meeting of the season. That was beginning to feel like a long time ago! » Senna stated after the tests.
During this break, my muscles were not as strained as usual. So, I prepared myself as best as I could. I tried to learn as much as possible. And considering my preparation, I think I did a pretty good job.
« Driving a Formula 1 single-seater is really enjoyable. I felt more and more comfortable as the laps went by. »
He added: « I am happy. As I said, I didn’t feel much pressure compared to Jenson Button. Honda wanted to see if I could help them, if I was consistent, and if I could be fast. »
The Brazilian does not yet know if he will be back on track next month: « I would like to participate in the Jerez tests but this depends on the team. »
