Renault gives an appointment in Jerez in 3 weeks

Renault concluded today its first winter testing session, after three days of running with Nelson Piquet and Giedo Van Der Garde, at the Catalunya circuit near Barcelona.

Based on the information gathered during the first two days, Renault continued its technical program by focusing mainly on evaluating Bridgestone slick tires and validating new parts as part of its preparations for the 2009 season.

The Brazilian, the only driver for the Losange on the track today, juggled between the two chassis R28-04 and R28-05 at his disposal to optimize his track time as much as possible. He was able to make significant progress in the team’s technical program and encountered no issues.

Renault will be testing from December 9 to 11 at the Jerez circuit in Spain for its last work session before the end-of-year holidays.

After his third and final day of testing, Nelson Piquet stated: « We had a busy morning, mainly dedicated to tire tests and some new parts, in preparation for next season. The feeling at the wheel was a bit strange in this 2009 configuration, but we recorded a lot of data, which was essential for the team. »

As for the final words, it is Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer, who says them: « The assessment of this session is positive, we were able to complete our program within the allotted time and the new parts brought us interesting results. Working with slick tires proved very useful and our engineers now have valuable information that they can analyze before our next session. »
