Kubica: Consistency will be the key in 2009

Robert Kubica from BMW-Sauber believes that the consistency of the cars, which was the key throughout the 2008 season, will also be at the center of discussions next year.

The Polish driver took advantage of his excellent results at the beginning of the 2008 season to become the leader in the driver championship. In the second half of the year, his car was slower than those of his main competitors. He eventually dropped to 4th place in the standings.

This situation highlights how BMW-Sauber has been unable to match its development with those of Ferrari and McLaren.

Nick Heidfeld’s teammate, a race winner in 2008 in Montreal, thinks that his team will need to maintain a certain consistency throughout 2009 if it wants to remain in the running for titles until the end of the season.

« My job is to drive to the best of my abilities while avoiding mistakes, » said Kubica on the official Formula 1 website.

« I’m doing well because I’m not entirely responsible for this disappointing end of the season. Moreover, we must not forget that in Singapore, I lost a lot of points due to bad luck. »
