The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, has been offered a place by Honda in the Superbike World Championship for next year.
The German, who retired from being a Formula 1 driver at the end of the 2006 season, participated in the Superbike race in Germany this year.
He also tested for the Ducati team in Moto GP.
« Michael is convinced that the German championship is good for him at the moment, » said Carlo Fiorani of Honda Racing to Gazzetta dello Sport.
« For now, he hasn’t asked us to be in the race for the 2009 World Championship. »
« But if he wants to, there is a way for him. The only thing to do is to ask us for this position. »
However, Schumacher has always maintained that he had no intention of starting a serious career in motorcycling.
