Lewis Hamilton projects an image of arrogance and pretentiousness within the paddock. Many media outlets have reported this perception of the young McLaren driver. Hamilton has also heard this feedback and seems to want to change this image and explain these reactions, which are often misunderstood.
« It saddens me that people have an opinion like this of me, » declares Hamilton in the pages of the Sunday Mirror.
Jealousy or reality? The English driver has especially shown in two seasons a winner’s temperament with a world title at the end of only his second season in Formula 1. Whether it’s a lie or not, Lewis Hamilton acknowledges wanting to change mindsets:
« I am, however, still young and I will be here for quite some time; therefore, I will do everything I can to open their minds. I hope I will be able to prove to them that I am a normal person and that I have good morals and values ».
He also admits to having a very high level of self-confidence, but according to him, it is a value entirely different from arrogance.
« There are people who express things better than others. Some are very calm while I am sometimes quite ‘bubbly’ as a guy, » concluded the Briton.
