Ferrari releases the F2008 K

Test driver Luca Badoer conducted a series of private tests on November 11 at the Fiorano circuit in Italy. For the occasion, the Scuderia’s single-seater was renamed F2008K.

The Italian test driver was able to get behind the wheel of a modified F2008 on Tuesday, designated as the F2008K. This code name, of course, refers to the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS).

These tests will help prepare for the integration of this system next year on the F2009, which will be presented to the international press in early January.

The reigning world champion team is also counting on the tests scheduled in Barcelona from November 17 to 19 to improve the current system. A strict regimen will be imposed. Indeed, weight remains the main drawback of the KERS. It could thus be reduced by 5Kg to 8Kg.
