Scuderia Toro Rosso has confirmed that it will have three of its main contenders for the second seat, left vacant after Vettel’s departure, participate in the Barcelona tests next week.
The Red Bull sister team will offer Sebastien Buemi, Sebastien Bourdais, and Takuma Sato the opportunity to be part of its driver lineup for 2009.
The Japanese and the Frenchman will each have a day and a half of testing, while the Swiss driver will be in the STR3 for all three days of testing. Sato will be driving on Monday and Tuesday morning, and Bourdais on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.
There were also discussions regarding GP2 champion Giorgio Pantano, but Torro Rosso confirmed he will not be part of it.
The Italian team has not yet confirmed any drivers for the next season and is losing Sebastian Vettel, who has been promoted to Red Bull Racing. In addition to this trio present in Barcelona, GP2 vice-champion Bruno Senna could be a candidate for the position but will be testing for Honda in Barcelona.
