Sebastian Vettel stated that he had experienced an extraordinary season well beyond his expectations as he finished in eighth position in the World Drivers’ Championship.
The young German had a sensational year with Scuderia Toro Rosso, becoming the youngest winner of a Grand Prix at Monza in Italy.
Vettel, who scored 35 points this year, admitted he did not expect to experience such a season.
When he was transferred to Red Bull Racing in 2009, the young German commented: « I am very proud. It’s very nice to win a race and finish with such a good position in the standings. »
« We scored a lot of points this year. The goals have been greatly exceeded. It was an incredible season. »
« We tried to do our best and fight in every race. »
The former teammate of Bourdais has no illusions about the task awaiting him as he joins the Milton Keynes team next season.
« There is a lot to do with Red Bull. We can improve, but the road will be long, » he added.
