Friday: During the first Free Practice of the weekend, Mass and Hamilton are already wheel-to-wheel. The advantage goes to the Ferrari driver, but the battle is already well underway! During the second free practice of the day, Alonso shows patience and clocks the fastest time ahead of Massa at the last moment…

Saturday: Hamilton is motivated to show his stuff during Free Practice 3. He largely beats Hamilton, but once again, Alonso is faster in the final seconds. The Renault driver seems eager to win this weekend.
In qualifying, the real fight for the title can finally begin: Massa has no choice, he must win the race and therefore start from pole position. That’s what he achieves, just ahead of Trulli and Räikkönen. Hamilton is only 4th, but a 5th place finish will be enough for him; he doesn’t want to take any risks.

Sunday: The start is given on a soaked track: tension is palpable in the McLaren camp, but Massa is doing everything to ensure the Ferrari camp feels satisfied. Hamilton is briefly the virtual champion, then a second later he isn’t. In the end, even though Massa crosses the finish line as the virtual world champion, Hamilton takes advantage of Glock’s problems to secure the necessary 5th position for his title!
Hamilton is crowned 2008 World Champion amidst the cries of sadness from hundreds of thousands of Brazilian supporters. Massa is also in tears… but on the podium. Alonso is also on the podium, and he too is very emotional.
