British Prime Minister Gordon Brown supports Lewis Hamilton, who he believes will become world champion. The McLaren driver could be crowned in a few hours if he achieves a decent result at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Brown is currently visiting the Middle East and stated that the whole country would be behind him. Hamilton could then become the first world champion since Damon Hill in 1996.
« Lewis Hamilton is considered a hero in Great Britain, » claimed Brown to the French press agency AFP.
« I think he will be a great champion. He came close last year. »
Hamilton only needs a fifth place finish at Interlagos to be crowned champion. He will start from fourth position while his main rival Felipe Massa is on pole position.
