Honda team principal, Ross Brawn, revealed that his team will launch a large-scale winter testing program aimed at gaining positions on the starting grids in 2009.
The Japanese manufacturer was the first team to divert its efforts from the 2008 season to focus on the 2009 car. Brawn is eager to make the most of the regulation changes expected in a few months.
Honda thus saved the maximum amount of test kilometers and tires to ensure a large-scale testing schedule between the end of the season and Christmas.
I believe we are the team with the most tires in reserve for future test sessions, he explained.
We will participate in the last three winter tests. There will be the KERS to work on, the tires, and some of the aerodynamic parts for next year.
Brawn expects the Honda RA109 to be launched at the beginning of January with a significant update to the car for the first Grand Prix of the season in Australia at the end of March.
