Lewis Hamilton will not let pressure make him commit the same mistakes as last year. The English driver admits he has learned from his experience.
Last season, Hamilton with McLaren lost 18 points to Räikkönen after the last two races. In China, Hamilton had to retire after getting stuck in the gravel, went off the track in Brazil, and then slowed down due to a gearbox problem.
This year, his difficult race in Japan could have unsettled him, but his victory in China gave him a 7-point lead heading into the decisive weekend.
Hamilton confides that he is calm for Interlagos, he will not repeat the same mistakes as last year.
« I remember last year going to the final race, I had a lot more pressure. This year, thanks to my experience, I feel better prepared. What I learned last season has helped me a lot for this year, both the problems, the difficulties, and the good moments. After Canada, this year, I think I’ve learned to take my time, not to rush, not to take too many risks, just to do what is necessary: to be at 100% but not 110%. » declared Hamilton.
He adds that he has learned from his past mistakes rather than dwelling on them, and admits to having no regrets about his last two seasons.
« You can spend your life looking at the past, reflecting on what might have changed if you had made a different decision, but I do not share this view. I know that I would always do my best in all circumstances. » confides the Briton.
