Bridgestone wants to hook F1 fans with its green tires

Last Tuesday, Bridgestone announced in an official statement that it had slightly changed the color of the Formula 1 tires. The sole manufacturer decided to paint the grooves of all the tires present for the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend in eco-friendly green!

The Japanese company wishes to integrate into the eco-friendly campaign launched by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) a few months ago. This campaign, named Make Cars Green, aims to introduce biofuel in the championship.

During a press conference in Tokyo on Thursday, Bridgestone unveiled these tires specially designed for the Japanese Grand Prix. The sole supplier was accompanied by FIA representatives and various companies, as well as McLaren and Ferrari drivers. The tires were even presented mounted on an MP4/23 and an F2008.

Bridgestone also announced that the staff and teams would be equipped this weekend with t-shirts promoting the campaign, as well as green rubber bracelets.

« We hope that the promotion of this campaign will attract public attention to carry out many vital actions for the environment, » stated the director of Bridgestone, Shoshi Arakawa.

Hamilton seems very motivated to lead the way for his fans: « When I was offered to do this, I was very happy. It sets us as an example and proves that we can all drive in a ‘green’ car. »
