Fernando Alonso expressed his concerns about the effects that the bumps at Turn 10 could have on the running of the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.
Sébastien Bourdais for Toro Rosso had raised the same questions a few hours earlier. The single-seaters could be the first victims of these bumps.
The Iberian acknowledged that his race weekend might end earlier than expected if his R28 were to hit the curbs.
« It wasn’t the best solution. If you miss the chicane, you must then go over the curbs with the risk of damaging the chassis. »
« If you damage one car, it’s not a problem because you can take the reserve car. But if you damage two, the weekend ends for you. »
« However, I do not know the solution to provide and I do not know if the organizers can modify the route so quickly. »
The FIA is studying the situation with race director Charlie Whiting by inspecting the concerned corner.
The organizers of the Singapore GP also deliberately tested the emergency lighting system to see if it is operational in case of a failure.
