Toyota F1’s team manager, Richard Cregan, will join the ADMM (Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management), which is currently overseeing the construction of the Abu Dhabi F1 circuit for the first Grand Prix of the United Arab Emirates.
He announced his departure from Toyota at the beginning of the month and will leave the Japanese team at the end of the season. He will then start his new role as team leader for the Abu Dhabi race in February. The inaugural race is set for November 2009.
Cregan stated that it will be hard to leave the Toyota ship after 24 years of good and loyal service, but he is looking forward to this new challenge.
« Although I am very sad to leave Toyota, I am optimistic about future opportunities in Abu Dhabi. »
« Philippe Gurdjian, the CEO of ADMM, is determined like no one else to make the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix an extraordinary event. It is rare to see someone so involved in a project of this scale, » he added.
