Engine change at Red Bull

Red Bull Racing confirmed this Friday that they have changed Mark Webber’s Renault engine ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.

A team spokesperson stated that the decision was made purely as a precaution due to the demands placed on the engines with the Spa-Francorchamps and Monza races.

This means that Webber will finish the season in Brazil with a new engine since the current one will be used in Italy and also in Singapore, and the next one will be intended for the Chinese and Japanese races.

Webber was not penalized for this engine change as teams have a wildcard for the season. However, any other change will result in a 10-place penalty on the starting grid.
