The Briton still has the opportunity to gain some precious points on Massa, who will be right next to him on the starting grid. Tomorrow will be the 13th round of the world championship, so which side will luck choose?
Lewis Hamilton – 4th and 1st:
« I am really happy with my pole position. We have a good car and the atmosphere within the team, both in Woking and here at the circuit, is fantastic. After the Valencia race, we knew we had to improve and that’s what we did. Today’s performance is the result of great preparation and I felt very comfortable when we arrived here. »
« First of all, I decided to drive with the hardest tires. At the start of my first lap, I locked my front right wheel but after that, I didn’t make any more mistakes. I’m confident for tomorrow’s race. »
Heikki Kovalainen – 2nd and 3rd:
« A good weekend so far as we have been able to improve overall. Today, qualifying seemed quite straightforward but ultimately I didn’t do enough to find myself on the front row. I lost a bit of time in the second sector. Anyway, for tomorrow, I feel optimistic. »
Ron Dennis – McLaren F1 Director:
« The first and third places are very good qualifying results. It’s the norm. We hope that tomorrow the setup of the single-seaters will put us in a highly competitive position. We believe we have developed a good race strategy and we are confident that both our drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen, will be in great shape.
