Saturday – 50/50 for Red Bull on the eve of the Belgian race

Logically, the Red Bull Racing team should end several weeks of point drought this weekend at Spa. After slightly underwhelming free practice 3, Marc Webber managed to reach the third part of qualifying. 10th before the start of the session, he achieved the 7th fastest time to secure a spot on the 4th row of the starting grid.

Coulthard is less fortunate, he will start from the 14th position in a field that is increasingly characterized by its homogeneity in terms of pure performance.

Mark Webber – 10th and 7th:

« We have more pace here than in Valencia. It was very tense to get into Q3. It was, as usual, very tight, and a few tenths of a second can change everything. We’ll see tomorrow if the strategy used is the right one. We are in a favorable position to go on the attack and score some points. It’s positive to see Alonso and myself in our positions with Renault engines. »

David Coulthard – 12th and 14th:

« I am not happy with this place on the grid. Fourteenth is not good, but it’s so tight in the middle of the grid. Let’s wait and see what we can do tomorrow. »

Christian Horner – Team Principal:

« It was a good qualifying session for Mark Webber, who will be well placed on the grid tomorrow. We could have been even faster. In a qualifying like this, David Coulthard finished very close to the competitors who were in front of him. The F1 field has never been as competitive as it is today. »
