Renault Report: After the Monza tests, the hardest part is yet to come…

The objective of this session, in which Nelson Piquet and Fernando Alonso both participated, was to prepare for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix that will take place in two weeks. The agenda included evaluation of the low-drag aerodynamic package specifically designed for the Italian event, setup, brake testing, and tires; Renault has had a busy program in recent days. For the last day of testing, Fernando Alonso was able to conduct some suspension tests today and thereby improve the handling of his car in the chicanes.

After three days of testing, Renault concludes its program tonight with interesting data recorded, which will now need to be analyzed in the coming days. The French team is preparing to compete in the Belgian Grand Prix this week, the thirteenth round of the 2008 World Championship.

Fernando Alonso

« It has been another good day of work, we learned a lot and it will undoubtedly be very useful for the Italian Grand Prix. We tried different setup solutions and were able to conduct suspension tests in the afternoon to use the curbs, which are an integral part of the ideal line here. I believe we have progressed in the right direction and now have a good working base for the race in two weeks. »

Christian Silk – Chief Test Engineer

« We spent the day working on the setup of the single-seater because it’s very specific here and different from other circuits we visit during the season. We continued our preparation program for the race in fifteen days and identified some very interesting setup solutions that should allow us to approach the Grand Prix in good conditions. »
