Robert Kubica, who took third place at the last European Grand Prix, reached an important milestone in his young F1 career. Indeed, the BMW-Sauber driver, by scoring six new points during this race in Valencia, has exactly reached a total of 100 points collected throughout his Formula 1 career.
The points are spread over the last three years. Kubica has scored 55 since the beginning of this season after only twelve races, which is already 16 more than the 39 he earned in 2007. Finally, in 2006 for his first season, the Pole had gained six points.
His current position in the driver standings shows how much he improves year after year. In 2006, already with BMW-Sauber, he finished in 16th place despite only participating in part of the season. In 2007, he jumped 10 places and this year, Robert Kubica is currently fourth, just two points behind Kimi Räikkönen.
His good result in Valencia was crucial to get him back into the championship, especially since the Finn retired without scoring any points due to an engine failure.
According to him, his great performance in qualifying was the decisive moment of the weekend.
« I was third on the starting grid and on Sunday I had less fuel than the two cars that were in front of me, » he explained.
« That is why my qualifying laps are particularly good. That is the key.
