Assessment – Toyota impresses with its consistency

It must be noted that to this day, if there is one team that truly deserves the 4th place in the constructors’ championship, it is Toyota. After Glock’s surprise podium in Budapest, the Japanese team has once again scored big points to pull away from Renault.

Trulli is 5th and Glock 7th thanks to the reliability of their car, which would make more than one envious. This season, Toyota is undoubtedly the 4th strongest team on the F1 grid.

Jarno Trulli – 5th:

« It was a good result and a great performance by the team. The weekend started poorly for me but ended very well. I put in a solid race without really pushing. I accelerated a bit more when I needed to while paying attention to my tires and brakes. »

« This clearly shows that the car is competitive every race weekend. Toyota is doing a great job this year and is seeking increased competitiveness on every circuit. The team is continuing its development work, so I am confident for the rest of the season. »

Timo Glock – 7th:

« It was a difficult race because I caught a bad cold two days ago. But I had a good car and a good strategy. I believe a 7th place is the best result we could have expected today, so I am really happy. »

The situation got complicated in the middle of the race and mainly in the last 10 laps, I was moving as fast as possible while staying focused. Given our qualification and my condition, I am happy. It’s a very good result for the team that places both its cars in the points.

Tadashi Yamashina – Team Principal:

« Today’s race transformed the weekend. After the qualifying sessions, everyone was a bit disappointed, but today everything was much better with excellent teamwork. Following Jarno Trulli’s result on Saturday, the team opted for an identical setup of Timo Glock’s car. Trulli delivered a very good performance and a very good race to secure a 5th place. »

« Timo wasn’t feeling well but he made an excellent start. His tires performed well and he put all his energy into finishing the race with the best possible result. I am very happy because we are confirming our pace. Now, we will continue to work with particular focus on the Japanese Grand Prix which will come a little later in the season. »
