Former Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson is optimistic about a potential return to Formula 1 next season.
The Briton is in talks with several teams for 2009 and is confident of securing a full-time contract in this sport.
« I have spoken with different teams where there could be a place for me next season, » said Davidson in Valencia where he was also a commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live F1.
« I hope to stay in F1. If that doesn’t work out, there are many other options outside of F1. But right now, I want to stay in the F1 world and I believe there is a place for me somewhere. »
Davidson added that he was more than motivated about his future, after being left out when the Super-Aguri team withdrew before the Turkish Grand Prix.
This time since May has allowed me to reflect on what happened at the beginning of the year. I think I can hold my head high. I remain a respected driver for who I am. That is to say, I am still seen as a racing driver and not as a test driver.
« I therefore have energy to spare for next year, no matter what I do because I think it will be a new chapter in my racing career. »
When asked if he was optimistic about his chances of returning to F1 in 2009, he concluded by saying: « I feel optimistic and positive. »
