The Fan-F1 Regularity Ranking

In the Motors Inside rankings, there are few changes to note at the end of this 12th round of the championship.

The reigning world champion, Kimi Räikkönen, who was first before this Valencia race, falls to 4th place tied on points with Kubica. At the top, it’s Hamilton who takes command with a cumulative 209 points.

Following are Heidfeld (196 points) and Kovalainen (192 points). Then Massa continues his ascent after two retirements at the start of the season. He moves ahead of Trulli to take 6th place. A similar situation for 8th place goes to Webber ahead of Alonso, penalized by his retirement of the day.

You then have to go deep into the standings to see another change with Barrichello taking over Coulthard for 13th place. Piquet is still 16th just ahead of the Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais.

There is indeed an official Formula 1 ranking that allocates points based on the importance of the positions attained, that is to say, with a decreasing scale by two for the top three positions. 10 points for the winner, 8 for the second place, and 6 for the third.

This scale only rewards the drivers who finish in the top eight, while drivers who regularly place in the top 10 (9th and 10th for example) are never recognized, even though this position is almost as important as an eighth position which usually awards a point.

To correct the situation, casinoenligne.uk.com invents the regularity ranking: Each driver receives a point according to their reverse order of finishing, provided they have crossed the checkered flag. In case of retirement, they receive no points. The first receives 22 points, the second 21, the third 20, and so on… The 22nd, if there is one, will therefore inherit just one point.

In the end, we obtain a ranking based on the finishing position in each race, showing the consistency of each participant and allowing to reward the driver for the work they contribute to the team and not just according to their position.
