Saturday – Force India sees no glimmer of hope!

Introduction of a new gearbox and successful initial tests yesterday, but these promising results were not confirmed today.

Between the third free practice and the qualifying session, Fisichella and Sutil were ranked between 17th and 20th place. No doubt there are some regrets for Force India, who expected more from this new track, but the weekend is far from over!

Adrian Sutil – 17th and 20th:

« The first fast lap was correct. The track was improving with each lap. On my last lap, I had some issues with traffic and couldn’t warm up my tires, they weren’t ready for the first two corners. I had to lock my wheels at that moment. »

That’s why I couldn’t improve my time. So last on the grid, we’ll see how things develop tomorrow.

Giancarlo Fisichella – 18th and 18th:

« I really did my best. I think the car reached its limits. In the end we are only 1.3 seconds from the best time of the session. This shows how close everything was but I don’t think we could have done anything more. »

Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director:

Giancarlo got the maximum out of what the car could give him. It’s our first race with our new gearbox. I think we have clearly made a step forward in terms of competitiveness. I’m very proud of the team.

« For tomorrow’s race, we know there will be a lot of incidents and potentially several safety car interventions, but we know that our race pace is normally better than our qualifying pace. There are opportunities for success, that’s for sure. »
