Saturday – Trulli Still on Track for Toyota

After a first day of quite satisfactory testing, the sky clouded over today for the Toyota team. Free practice 3 was very difficult, evidenced by the fact that Jarno Trulli didn’t even leave the pits…

But the Italian catches up in qualifying with a 7th place while his teammate is the one who falters this afternoon. The GP2 champion will start from the 7th row! But tomorrow anything is possible, with maybe even a safety car that many are anticipating…

Jarno Trulli – 20th and 7th:

« After our difficult practice sessions yesterday, we completely changed the setup of my single-seater today. Then, we had an issue with my oil pump this morning which prevented me from participating in free practice 3. Thus, I was driving blind this afternoon, but I used my experience and focused to secure a spot in Q3. »

« I made a mistake on my last fast lap but I am very happy with what we achieved today. I am also thrilled with the development of the car which consistently allows me to get into the top ten and score points. That’s our goal for the race tomorrow. Here, more than anywhere else, anything can happen… »

Timo Glock – 16th and 13th:

« I don’t know what happened on my end. We were certainly lucky to be in the top ten with Trulli because it was a difficult qualifying. For me, the first set of tires seemed to work better, but I struggled to get the optimal temperature in the first sector of my last lap in Q2. »

« I caught a chill during the night and I wasn’t feeling particularly well but I have no excuses. There might be interventions from the safety car for tomorrow. So, we’ll need to make the most of that potential situation. »

Pascal Vasselon – Technical Director:

« Rather negative result. Jarno did a fantastic job because he didn’t get to run this morning which didn’t prevent him from participating in Q3. Timo did not have the success he encountered yesterday. »

« The positive thing for us is that we are well positioned to defend ourselves in the event of a safety car. »
