Honda can still improve according to Brawn

The team principal of Honda Racing, Ross Brawn, is convinced that his team can still make progress on the grid this year as the latest updates to the cars were recently introduced.

The RA108 was equipped in the last races with new aerodynamic elements and a suspension that allowed the team to position itself a bit more towards the middle of the grid.

Even though this new suspension is the last major innovation for this season, Brawn plans to modify the system for the remaining races in order to gain speed.

« When you look at the improvements in the suspension, they are difficult to quantify, » explained the former Ferrari director.

This system has not been fully optimized because we have not done enough testing. During the August break, we will have time to test it and make appropriate modifications for Valencia.

Brawn admitted that the final design of the new suspension was not perfect, considering the limitations at the level, for example, of the gearbox.

« There is still quite a heavy compromise to manage in order to respect the limits of the gearbox, » he added.

« The true potential cannot be reached. But everything is moving in the right direction although there is a limit to what we can do with this single-seater. »
