According to Nico Rosberg, the number one driver for Williams-Toyota, his team should soon have resolved its recent underperformance issues.
Williams started the 2008 season very well with a podium finish in Australia. However, since then, their performances have been mixed, which has not been very uplifting for the team. Since the Monaco GP, the British team has scored only one point in five meetings. The blame lies with capricious aerodynamics.
Today, Rosberg believes that his team has identified the problem and the factory will have it resolved for the next Grand Prix in Valencia (European GP).
« We have pinpointed one of our main problems and it is about to be resolved, » admits Rosberg. « This winter, we were at the level of the Red Bull and Toyota, which clearly shows that there was a problem… »
The three weeks of vacation will be conducive to rest in the paddock. It will not be allowed to test any elements on the tracks; Rosberg can only lament this.
« The ban on conducting tests will be difficult for us. In F1, when you want to change something, you have to design it, implement it, and test it. This takes several weeks. If we can’t try it, it will take even longer. » Concludes the young German.
The Williams FW30 is expected to arrive for the European GP just slightly improved.
