The standings after the 11th event of the season

At the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the title race remains incredibly open as the season now concludes with seven races to go. [Standings]

In the driver’s championship, first of all, Lewis Hamilton maintains his lead in the standings with 62 points, despite finishing 5th in Hungary due to a puncture. Räikkönen is now second, 5 points behind the Briton, thanks to his podium finish.

Massa, who should have won the Hungarian race, loses a lot in the championship and is now only 3rd with 54 points. The BMW-Sauber drivers are slowing down. Still 4th and 5th, Kubica and Heidfeld let the leaders get away. They have 47 and 41 points, respectively.

Kovalainen is still 6th in the standings but is getting closer to his rivals thanks, of course, to his remarkable victory. He is now only three points behind Heidfeld.

Next to these six drivers, the battle will also be relentless until the end of the season. Trulli is still 7th with 23 points. Alonso is catching up with Webber. They both have 18 points. Young wolves like Piquet and Glock are also tied in points and are positioned at the 10th rank with 13 points. Barrichello is not far behind with 11.

At the bottom of the standings, no significant change: The two Williams drivers are 13th, followed by Vettel, Coulthard, Button, and the Frenchman Sébastien Vettel still two points behind.

In the constructors’ championship, two teams have now surpassed the 100-point mark. Ferrari remains the leader with 111 points, and McLaren is back in the title race with 100 points. BMW-Sauber is losing ground and is now only 3rd, 10 points behind the Woking team.

Much further behind, the 4th place will be contested between Toyota, which currently holds this position, and Renault. The two teams have 35 and 31 points, respectively. Red Bull is now only 6th. Williams is still under threat from Honda and is only two points behind the British team. Toro Rosso is 9th, and Force India is still waiting for its moment of glory.
