Sébastien Bourdais has been demoted five places on the Hungarian Grand Prix grid for impeding Heidfeld during the qualifying session.
The German driver complained that Bourdais had slowed him down on his final straight in Q1. The Frenchman, it is true, was just in front of him at the end of that lap.
Following this incident, Heidfeld was unable to reach Q2 for the first time this season.
The track officials decided that Bourdais deserved a five-place grid penalty. This means the Toro Rosso driver will start from the last row.
These same commissioners also investigated an incident between Kazuki Nakajima’s Williams and Fernando Alonso’s Renault, but no action was taken.
