Hungarian GP – « A circuit suited to our Williams »

Williams arrives in Hungary confident and joyful. The team returns to a circuit they appreciate and which has shown impressive races since 1986.

The team will obviously have a specific aerodynamic package for the Hungaroring, but is also counting on two other points to achieve a good performance: a good strategy, and a good qualification.

Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima, the two drivers of the English team, will be delighted to meet the goals set by the team.

Nico Rosberg – Racing Driver:

The Hungary circuit is reminiscent of Monaco. It requires a lot of downforce, and these setups suit us better than those used in recent races. Therefore, we hope to perform better and achieve good results.

« Last year, we qualified well and had a great race. So we expect a good weekend this season too. I think we’ll have to pay attention to the heat. It will be very hot this weekend, but I don’t think it will be a problem for me. So I am optimistic. » Concluded the German driver.

Kazuki Nakajima – Racing Driver

« I have never driven a Formula 1 car at Hungaroring, but I have raced with other single-seaters, including GP2 last year with a good result! »

The circuit should suit our car and we made a lot of progress in Jerez last week on the setup for this event. We are therefore well prepared. I also hope to visit Budapest this year to relax before the Grand Prix.

Sam Michael – Technical Director:

The Hungaroring is a very demanding circuit in terms of aerodynamic downforce. The car is therefore always at the limit of possible grip. The driver must remain constantly focused to avoid mistakes in the many corners of the track.

« Regarding the tires, we will have soft and super-soft. This means that we might have up to three pit stops during the race. Clearly, such a circuit requires a good performance in qualifying and a good start because it will be extremely difficult to overtake. In fact, we have seen in the past that all strategies were equivalent in terms of the result at the finish. »
