BMW Sauber had to abandon its first major test with the new KERS system after a mechanic was electrocuted when he touched the device on the F1.08 car in the paddocks.
Although he returned to work shortly after his accident, the mechanic whose name has not been mentioned was admitted to Jerez hospital on Tuesday evening for dizziness.
After a night of observation and new tests throughout the day on Wednesday, he was finally able to return home to rest.
A statement from BMW-Sauber announces: « The mechanic who was involved in the KERS incident underwent further medical examinations at the hospital in Jerez. »
« He was able to leave afterwards because the doctors were satisfied with the results. The mechanic in question is returning home to Switzerland. »
This incident reignites the debate about the safety of KERS, as a small fire at the Red Bull Racing factory had already been reported last week.
