Timo Glock hopes to be back on his feet to participate in the Jerez tests this week after being hospitalized for a few hours following his crash on the 36th lap of the German Grand Prix.
The German stayed overnight at the hospital for observation. His accident was caused by the failure of the rear suspension of his Toyota. A crash into the wall was inevitable.
But although the 26-year-old driver was shaken by this accident, Toyota’s General Manager Pascal Vasselon stated that Glock had already turned the page and was focusing on the private tests in Spain that will start tomorrow.
« He’s doing well; we spoke to him on the phone. He would like to be present at the Jerez tests. So, it’s quite positive, » explained the Frenchman.
Toyota still does not know what caused this suspension failure. The single-seater was severely damaged in the accident. Vasselon added that the reason for this incident would really be known in the coming hours.
« When the accident occurred, he was off the track. At the moment, we are trying to analyze what happened. We need to examine the data prior to the incident. »
« Honestly, we can’t say anything at the moment because we can’t analyze anything about the car. We need to look at some videos, and then we’ll start to know a little more about what happened, » he continued.
And while Vasselon refused to make any further comments, the team president, John Howett, plans to raise the issue with the FIA.
« I think we just want to talk about how the driver was taken out of his car but I don’t think we will go as far as complaining. »
« We will take a look at the video and we will be able to understand the overall scenario exactly. The first essential thing is that he is doing well, » added Howett.
