Silverstone learned two weeks ago that the British Grand Prix would no longer be held on its grounds after 2009. Ticket sales for the last race have already begun and are meeting with great success.
As of today, the last race would be rescheduled for June 21. For 10 years, the world of Formula 1 has stopped for a weekend at Silverstone.
The director of Silverstone, Richard Phillips, is delighted that more than 5,000 tickets have already been sold for 2009.
« This year, the British Grand Prix was a big celebration. It’s fantastic to see that so many people have already bought their tickets for next year. »
« As everyone knows, 2009 could be the last season to include Silverstone in the official calendar for the British Grand Prix. It will still be a great weekend for us and the fans. »
« We have undertaken enormous work on the circuit to ensure the race is a success. All our plans are in place to improve the facilities, but also to ensure the surrounding community and the local economy benefit from this Grand Prix, » concluded Phillips.
