McLaren, for life, for death for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton stated that he had no intention of racing for any team other than McLaren.

The 23-year-old Briton has been in the spotlight in F1 since 2007 and at the beginning of the season, he announced that he had signed a contract with McLaren-Mercedes until the end of 2012.

« I plan to stay with McLaren throughout my career, » stated Hamilton for the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport in an interview that will be published at the end of next week, on the eve of his home Grand Prix at Silverstone.

« I have a long contract and I would be delighted if the cooperation continues beyond this date, » he added.

Hamilton, who finished last season in second place in the championship and is currently ten points behind the leader, described his relationship with the Woking team as unique.

« The team puts a lot of pressure on its drivers. It’s like a big family to me – I’ve been with them since 1997. »

It was at this time that the team manager, Ron Dennis, began to support him. He was only a karting driver then.

« Even after a very bad weekend, you must react as quickly as possible. You have to learn to move forward, » continued the reigning vice-champion.

« At the beginning of the year, I was surprised by the pressure that was put on me. »

« Now, I tell myself that the year is long and that we need to save our energy for the next race. »
