The French Federation of Motor Sport has given its approval for the organization of the 2009 French Grand Prix, which will once again take place at Magny-Cours.
The president of the FFSA, Nicolas Deschaux, requested approval yesterday at the FIA World Council in Paris.
The General Assembly of the FFSA, which met, reviewed the results of the race at Magny-Cours for this season and confirmed its presence in next year’s calendar.
The race will be held at the Magny-Cour circuit even though the FFSA has stated that it will consider other French sites for the race starting in 2010.
« The FFSA expressed its desire to study the sites that wish to host the French Grand Prix from 2010 at its next Executive Committee meeting in October, » the FFSA said in a statement.
« The FFSA will send the list of essential measures for potential candidates, including Magny-Cours 2, in mid-July. »
The Magny-Cours 2 project includes a major overhaul of the circuit’s facilities in the hope of retaining the French Grand Prix after 2009.
