The 1997 world champion, Jacques Villeneuve, insists that he is open to the idea of starting a second career in Formula 1.
During his visit to the Montreal paddocks two weeks ago, the Canadian stated that he was open to any suggestions regarding a possible offer to return to the grid.
After finishing second at Le Mans last weekend, the 37-year-old man stated to an Italian magazine that he would not be opposed to a return.
« I am open to the idea in light of the new technical situation, » commented Villeneuve, who was let go by BMW-Sauber during the 2006 season, for Autosprint.
« To be honest, I have no idea if this is possible or not. »
« I have never lost hope of rejoining the F1 world. I drove in another series, but that’s because there were no vacant seats in F1. »
« If the opportunity arose along with the new regulations, I would be the happiest to get back to work, » concluded the former driver with 165 Grand Prix races and 11 victories under his belt.
