Anthony Davidson stated that his ambitions were still directed towards Formula 1 after the withdrawal of his former team, Super Aguri, a few years ago.
The Briton made his return to Formula 1 on Thursday in Barcelona, where he was a test driver for Honda, replacing Alex Wurz, who is occupied with the Le Mans race this weekend.
Davidson admitted that this return was good for morale.
« It’s very good to be back in a Formula 1. After a few months without driving while still following all the Grand Prix, I was really very frustrated, » affirmed Davidson after his tests.
He is convinced that he still belongs in Formula 1 and remains hopeful of finding a seat for 2009.
« It’s a difficult time to go through, I want to stay here for now and for next year, » he added.
« It’s certain that the race remains my goal. Driving this car here makes me realize even more that F1 is my life. »
Despite a difficult period with Super-Aguri, Davidson commented that he had no regrets and believes he learned a lot with the Japanese team.
« It was an exciting experience. I think I managed to prove my speed in qualifying. »
