Honda Racing is the first team suspected of spending a significant amount of time on the design of the 2009 car.
The team principal, Ross Brawn, did not hide the fact that the team had to focus on 2009 upon seeing the additional speed level that could be obtained from the RA108.
However, even though updates are underway for the British and German Grand Prix, the team is now focusing its efforts on 2009.
« There are only two or three things we are still going to do this year, there will be a gradual introduction of new parts that will begin at Silverstone, » said Brawn.
« The concept of work has been developed in new areas and is currently being detailed and produced. »
Honda F1’s General Manager, Nick Fry, stated that he was optimistic about the team’s future direction.
« I never had the slightest doubt that we would make it. »
« We must be capable of beating Ferrari and McLaren on a day that’s quite normal. It’s clear that we won’t do it this year. »
