Nick Heidfeld hopes to shine in qualifying at the next Grand Prix taking place in Canada next week.
Germany is struggling to match the pace of its teammate Robert Kubica, especially in terms of rhythm. The problem stems from its tires, as it fails to bring them up to temperature for this event marked by a relatively limited number of laps.
Kubica has always beaten Heidfeld in qualifying since the beginning of the season, but the German remains hopeful to put his problems behind him for the Canadian race. It was right here that he had one of his best qualifying sessions of the 2007 season.
« Last year, the Canadian Grand Prix was a very special race for me. We kind of made a name for ourselves here in 2007. I finished third in qualifying and then second in the race, » he stated.
« In the beginning, this result was obviously overshadowed by Robert Kubica’s terrible accident. It was only when we knew he was okay that we could celebrate this result. »
« Of course, I hope to do the same thing in qualifying. I am working with the engineers so that my tires are no longer an issue. »
