Kimi Räikkönen has vowed to forget his disappointing Monaco Grand Prix and move on, with a focus on the Canadian Grand Prix next week.
The Ferrari driver was not spared from misfortunes in Monte Carlo with a drive-through penalty and an accident with Adrian Sutil’s Force India.
After finishing in ninth position, Räikkönen lost the lead in the drivers’ championship to Lewis Hamilton, who caught up by 12 points over the last two races.
« Sometimes things go well and sometimes they go badly, » said Räikkönen about his race.
« But what happened to us in Monaco, nobody could have predicted it. I left Monaco with nothing. But I never look back, because you can’t change things from the past. »
« Now, we can only analyze the causes that produced this result and we must try to ensure that these things never happen again. I am really sorry for what happened with Sutil and I have told him that I am sorry. »
Räikkönen is now three points behind Hamilton in the standings, but the reigning world champion remains calm and thinks Ferrari will be strong in Canada.
« Even though I didn’t score any points in the last race, thus losing the lead in the championship, it’s not the end of the world, » added the Finnish driver.
« Last year, I was in a much more delicate situation. Now, we have to go to Montreal and counterattack. It’s a beautiful city and I’m convinced we’ll have a better car than last year. »
Traditionally, Canada is a good race for Ferrari. We therefore hope to continue this tradition.
