BMW Motorsport director Mario Theissen is convinced that his team remains a threat to McLaren and Ferrari even though Robert Kubica admitted to being concerned about losing ground to his rivals.
In fact, for him, the fact that BMW-Sauber has been failing in recent races, particularly in qualifying, leads him to believe that McLaren and Ferrari have slightly improved in the races.
« I think that our team was the most consistent of all during the first three races, with fewer problems, and that’s why I expected more from the car. Recently, the situation has been more tense, » commented the Pole.
« Just look at the results in qualifying, and I think the answer is clear, it’s more difficult. The first four cars are a few tenths ahead and the others are a few tenths behind!
« I think the two other cars were faster than us in Monaco, but with some adjustments here and there, we can be in the running, » continued Theissen.
He is very happy with Kubica’s performance in the rain, who was in the running for pole position. His team remains in contention for the constructors’ and drivers’ championships.
Robert is one of the few drivers who made no mistakes. We adapted to the weather conditions, the state of the track, and the multiple accidents.
