F1 drivers mobilize for a good cause…

A growing number of Formula 1 drivers are supporting the charity run by Rob Smedley, the race engineer of Felipe Massa.

Smedley and his wife Lucy are fighting against infant mortality by organizing a charity gala at the Marton Country Club in Middlesbrough on May 30th.

They want to raise enough money to support their association, which was created when their daughter, Minnie, passed away shortly after being born last June.

Michael Schumacher, Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello have already donated items that will be auctioned, and other stars of the sport have offered their support after hearing about the event.

Indeed, Kimi Räikkönen donated a pair of 2008 racing gloves, Luca Badoer donated a complete set of his Ferrari suit, Timo Glock a series of Toyota suits, and Adrian Sutil a suit dating back to 2007, the year he made his F1 debut.

These ‘work tools’ are added to a catalog that already includes a series of Michael Schumacher’s racing suits from his time at Ferrari, a signed shirt from Jenson Button, and the helmet Rubens Barrichello wore at the beginning of the season.

The auctions will begin on the evening of Tuesday, May 27th and will end on the night of the gala, which is May 30th. More details on these auctions at www.minniesparty.co.uk.
