Kubica: « The drop in performance in Turkey will be the only »

Robert Kubica is optimistic that BMW-Sauber’s poor form at the Turkish Grand Prix was only temporary and that his team is still competing with Ferrari and McLaren.

Kubica and his teammate, Nick Heidfeld, could only manage fourth and fifth place in Istanbul last weekend. It seems that the German team was not able to compete alongside Ferrari and McLaren for the first time this season.

Even though some people have suggested that this result might be a sign that BMW-Sauber was lagging in its development compared to its competitors, Kubica remains more positive.

« Turkey was a Grand Prix similar to last year, where we were very far from the first two teams, » said Kubica.

I believe it is this Grand Prix that is problematic, and I hope that everything will be back to normal in Monaco and Canada where we will be closer to McLaren and Ferrari.

« As everyone knows, the winter tests were difficult. A lot of efforts have been made in problem-solving and in working on the new car, » he explained.

« We were able to keep the same pace as the McLarens during the race and in qualifying. Although some people within the team were disappointed with this fourth place, I was happy. »

« We had some problems that we resolved in Turkey. In Istanbul, the start was very good and apparently we returned to the clutch specification we had at the beginning of the year. »

« In Turkey, we used the same clutch that we had in Australia, » noted Kubica in conclusion.
