The Force India test driver, Vitantonio Liuzzi, will turn to endurance racing for a few hours. He will take part this weekend in the second round of the international championship in the Czech Republic at Most.
Liuzzi, who hasn’t participated in a race since last year’s Brazilian F1 Grand Prix, will drive a Mercedes AMG C-Class DTM for the three-hour race scheduled on Saturday.
« I am delighted with this race, » said Liuzzi.
« It means a lot to me. I will be driving, for the first time, on this Czech circuit. Furthermore, I have never driven a DTM-type car until today.
« I was very happy to accept Antonin Charouz’s offer. I know that Charouz Racing System is a good team and the fact that they offered me to drive a Mercedes Benz AMG DTM Class C is a real opportunity. »
« I heard that the international championship in the Czech Republic is attractive and of good quality. I hope to have a good race and feel a lot of pleasure on Saturday for three hours, » he added.
Liuzzi will be accompanied in the car by Jan Charouz, Antonin Charouz, and Vaclav Nimc, while the sister car will feature former F1 driver Tomas Enge, Stefan Mücke, as well as Antonin Charouz and Nimc, who will switch cars.
