A hint of resignation in Alonso’s words…

Fernando Alonso warns his fans not to expect fireworks at the Monaco Grand Prix, where the Spaniard believes things will hardly change.

The Monte Carlo circuit is recognized as a performance ‘equalizer’, and races there are generally filled with challenges due to the nature of the track.

The sporting director of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali, stated that BMW and Renault might even join his team and McLaren in the battle for first place during the race on the rock.

« I think that not only will McLaren be present, but I’m also expecting Renault and BMW, of course. Everything will be different, Monte Carlo is a very important race for everyone, » he commented.

However, Alonso believes that the situation will likely remain unchanged.

« We will see, » the Iberian declared when asked if he expected surprises in Monaco.

« That’s what we always think when we go there, we believe things will change, but in the end it’s always a McLaren or a Ferrari that wins, or a Renault like in 2006! »

The Renault team confirmed its progress in Turkey with a sixth place for Alonso.

The double world champion admitted that it was the best possible result…

« Yes, it was impossible to do better. It seems a bit repetitive, but the three teams ahead are too far away. So we are fighting for seventh place, » continued Alonso, double titleholder in Monaco.

« We realized that no surprise was possible. Thanks to Kovalainen since he allowed us to finish sixth, otherwise, it would have been seventh place… »
