The Istanbul race has been moved to May, whereas previously it took place in August. The temperatures are therefore cooler, but they are much colder than what was anticipated.
The fact that there is some graining on the Mediums and that many drivers struggle to bring their hard tires up to temperature, Bridgestone has stated that it was necessary to adjust its strategy for the next season.
Hirohide Hamashima, director of Bridgestone Motorsport, stated: « We thought it would be a bit warmer in Turkey in May, but the wind is very, very cold. »
« I think that for the next season, we will modify our strategy to bring softer compounds. »
The tire temperature is about 10 to 15 degrees below our forecasts, particularly on the mediums which show graining during the first 10 laps before gradually disappearing.
