Mark Webber apologizes to his Red Bull Racing team after admitting that his accident during the second free practice session in Turkey was entirely his fault.
The Australian lost control of his single-seater after 30 minutes of testing and crashed into the safety barriers, causing severe damage to his car.
Consequently, Webber covered only nine laps and finished in 19th position.
« My accident in turn 6 is entirely my fault, » he stated.
« I did not sufficiently take into account the grass strips located outside the track. »
« I was slightly off track, the grass was a bit wet, and I spun out, it’s my fault. I apologize to the team. We will bounce back tomorrow. »
His teammate, David Coulthard, had a much better session, ultimately securing an excellent fourth place.
« It was a Friday similar to the one experienced in Spain, there were no major problems. The balance of the car was good, » he commented.
« There are a lot of turns on this track, as a result, drivers easily make mistakes. We will now study the data and decide what we will do for tomorrow. »
