Anthony Davidson hopes he has provided enough evidence in racing with Super-Aguri to earn a new seat in Formula 1.
« I think I can be proud of myself. I really proved what I was capable of. In two races, I finished ahead of my teammate and clocked the 14th fastest time in Bahrain. It’s quite incredible given the car we had, » commented Davidson to Autosport magazine.
I remain convinced of my abilities. If I had been able to race mid-season without pressure and uncertainty, imagine the performances I could have achieved with a good car and a stable team. For now, Formula 1 has a taste of unfinished business.
Davidson suspected, before the start of the season, the imminent end of Super-Aguri, but chose to stay with the team until the end.
« I had other options at the beginning of the year, but I felt that we might only achieve three races. I often thought about this. You have to take the bull by the horns and not refuse three F1 races. »
« Tuesday was a terrible day for everyone on the team. The guys have all worked tirelessly over the past two years and especially in recent months. »
As for Takuma Sato, he clearly stated that he has no intention of retiring.
« I will look at the options with my manager and an announcement will be made. However, I have no intention of withdrawing from the F1 world. »
« I feel that I can still bring pleasure to my fans and other Japanese supporters who have supported me throughout my career, » asserted Sato.
« What can I say about this situation except that I am very sad and very disappointed for Super-Aguri who had to withdraw from the world of F1. »
« I quickly understood the difficult situation the team was going through, but I hoped with all my heart that the parties involved would find a solution. Unfortunately, that was not the case … »
With all these problems, I just tried to stay optimistic. Super-Aguri has always been a small team but a small team with a big heart.
