Turkish GP – Force India moves slowly but surely!

What is the true value of the Force India team? It’s difficult to answer this question… A 10th place finish by Fisichella in Spain might suggest that they’re in the middle of the pack.

However, in Barcelona, 9 drivers retired, leaving room for others like Fisichella, who are more accustomed to the last spots. Q2 in qualifying still eludes the Indian team. Force India will, therefore, try to clarify the situation in Turkey.

Giancarlo Fisichella – Racing Driver

« We have results beyond our pre-season expectations because apart from Australia, we have finished every race in the top 12. We are still a young team but everyone is becoming more and more confident. Finishing in the top 10 in Spain has been our best performance to date. »

« We must now improve in qualifying. We have spent a lot of time analyzing our practice and qualifying performances. I hope we won’t have the same issues in Turkey. Of course, the field is so tight that a tenth of a second can make the difference between Q1 and Q2. »

I like Istanbul since I’ve had good results on this circuit with a 4th place in 2005. It’s a very difficult track and therefore the race itself will be challenging. The car is very reliable and if we succeed in our qualifying, we could be in the top 10 again and, why not, score our first points.

Adrian Sutil – Racing Driver

The objective for this Turkish Grand Prix is above all to finish the race and to be able to say that we had a good weekend with, of course, a good race but also a good qualifying.

« There have been, until now, problems in races with a series of mechanical failures and accidents. Last year, the Grand Prix went well but I had to retire on the last lap. It was a bit frustrating because the race had been magnificent. »

« The heat should not pose major problems. I am looking forward to the race, and we hope there will be no issues. »

Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director

« Turkey is an exciting circuit, particularly with turn 8, which is very challenging. The VJM01 performs well in the fastest sectors of the races. I believe, therefore, that the car will be competitive in Istanbul as it was in Barcelona. »

« We don’t have any new updates planned for the car this weekend, which means the same specifications will be used as in Barcelona. We will focus more on development in Monaco and Canada with specific packages. »

« I see no reason not to make it into Q2 during the qualifications. That must be the goal now, with both of our cars needing to cross the finish line. We have shown with Giancarlo Fisichella that points are possible.
